I am not the generation of Harry Potter. I have read books and watched movies with my 9 year old daughter. I was captivated by the author’s imagination and the wonderful magic world. Sometimes, after a hard day, I can turn on the Harry Potter movie to feel this atmosphere completely detached from reality. Usually, everyone has some favorite character in a book or movie that they like. I immediately liked the house elf, Dobby. It just won my heart.
When I saw the pictures of Dobby on Pinterest, I was enchanted. It was beautifully sewn and painted. I thought to myself that I would not have a problem with sewing, but I would not be able to paint it that way.

Some time has passed since then. I wanted to go ahead and started trying to paint doll faces. For the first time, outside of my primary school years, I picked up watercolors and pastels. It wasn’t bad with the doll faces. I mean, they are still missing a lot, but they have something to do with them. I decided it was high time to try it with Dobby as well.

Sewing it gave me a special pleasure. As he took shape, I smiled to myself. Before painting, however, I took a day off for “the right attitude”. It was so nice unpainted, but I absolutely wanted it to be as dirty as in a movie. First, I painted it with a complete base for acrylic paints. Then with acrylic paints in a nude gray shade.

At the end, with bated breath, I started painting those expressive green eyes. The whole was complemented by folds on the head and ears painted with pastels. I absolutely wanted Dobby dirty. Now, when I look at him, I wonder if I have dirty it too much.

Finally, I sewed a robe and a sock for him and made a little book. After all, he had to get his sock to be a free elf. I think I like him the most of all my mascots …
