I managed to make a head doll with slanted eyes. It was created by accident when I was trying to make my eyes in a new way. When my daughter saw her, she said, “Mom, maybe you can make a Mulan out of this head?”.
I wasn’t planning on doing Mulan. It’s not that I don’t like this character or I don’t like the movie. On the contrary, I really like the feature version of the film. It was just that such an idea never occurred to me. But now that I had the head, I thought why not. I watched the movie again. I looked closely at the outfits and started sewing. For now, she has pants, a shirt and a kimono. There are two most difficult things ahead of me, shoes and a decorative belt.
