My husband laughs that I like to sew dolls that only I like 😊. Maybe there is some truth in it, but of course I like it when others like what I sew. However, he is right when I choose a character that I sew, I don’t think about its popularity. Take, for example, the Harry Potter books. It is known that the most popular characters are Hermiona and Harry Potter. However, I was attracted to sewing other characters. And that’s how Dobby and Ron were born. And now I present you a new doll inspired by these books. Please meet Professor Dolores Umbrigde 😊.
I like how dolls have something characteristic about them. Although hardly anyone likes this character, it cannot be denied expressiveness. I hope that I managed to convey the character of this professor, who is extremely disliked at Hogwarts.
It was very nice to sew the doll. I wanted her nose upturned and her eyes slightly bulging. And I guess I succeeded. It was difficult with the hair. I found out that short hair is the most difficult to style. With long hair, everything looks good, with short hair requires great precision. The doll’s body is a little wider, I wanted her to be a bit overweight 😊. After all, Dolores was slightly fluffy.
The hardest thing to get, the thing seems the simplest, was the fabric for the dress. I wanted it to be a pink tweed, but at the same time it had to be a thin fabric. And when I managed to find the perfect one, it turned out that it was sold out. I wrote to the store asking if they had not even a 30 cm piece left. It turned out that I was lucky and the Lady sold me the last piece. I was happy like a child 😊. It sweetened me all difficulties in making a pattern and sewing this little dress 😊
