Of course, a large doll must have a large head. I sewed it with a different technique than before. There was less sewing and more modeling. Dry felting allows you to achieve any effect. The nose can be narrower or wider, the mouth is more or less smiling, with or without visible teeth. You are only limited by your imagination.
First, we sew the doll’s head. We draw lips, eyes and nose on it with a pencil. Their size and spacing depend on the effect we want to achieve. The next step is dry felting the eyelids, lips, eyes and chin.
We put a tricot on the modeled head. We stick it around the chin, nose and eyes. We sew at the mouth. With the help of pastels and cheek blush, we give color to the face. We paint the eyelids and lips. We paint the eyebrows with pastels in a crayon. We paint the eyes of the doll with acrylic paints. We cover everything with fixatin.
When the head was painted, the doll’s body also took on color. Since the doll is big, I also painted her nails 😉. In the photos you can see the stages of creating the head.
