As I wanted, I made a large doll. She is 56 cm tall, my previous dolls were about 34 cm. The difference is huge. The doll seems very big.
I made a pattern myself for the previous dolls. This time, I wanted to save time and bought a pattern on the Internet. I’m not entirely satisfied with it. I have already corrected the body, because it was made of an original pattern, it was much too big and its neck was too wide. However, as I look at the doll now, I can see that both the body and the neck will have to be slender. It also seems to me that the face is slightly too flat.
The doll has wooden balls in its joints. This allows her a large range of movements. Unfortunately, such a doll does not stand by itself. But she sits beautifully in any position.
With such a large doll, it’s easier to detail. This is my first doll that has teeth, manicure and pedicure 😉. Generally speaking, it is easier to sew a larger doll than a smaller one. There is more dry felting, which can be a bit difficult for a person without practice, but it is much easier to paint eyes or do other details.
I learned a lot from sewing this doll. Especially in the field of dry felting and painting the doll. I don’t know what my next doll will be. But I know that I will use everything I have learned so far, both when sewing smaller and larger dolls. I think she will be a mix of everything that I think is best about both dolls.
But before it’s time for another doll, I have to dress this one somehow. I must admit that I have no idea for her clothes. A sweet baby has come out of her and there is no choice but to dress her so sweetly. The problem is that I don’t really like such sweet dolls. So I’ll have to think a little bit 😊.
