It’s been almost a month since I sewed a large doll. In the meantime, we were on a 2-week vacation. The doll had to wait a bit for clothes and shoes. Now it can present itself to you. She also got a woolen cap. I know it’s summer now, but I had the feeling cap would suit her very well.
Sewing for a large doll is different than for small ones. On the one hand, it is a bit easier, because it does not require such precision. On the other hand, more fabric is needed to sew something. As for the cap, of course it is more labor-intensive if it is larger.
The doll is 56 cm and it is really big. All her joints bend, but unfortunately she cannot stand. It bothered me a lot at first, but I got used to it. I really like the way the doll moves its head. It can be set in any position. I also like her hands. They are delicate and have slender fingers. We liked each other and it will be difficult for me to part with her, but as I wrote before, when the war in Ukraine continues, all my dolls will be put up at the auctions of the Polish Center for International Aid.
When I made this doll, I was pretty sure that the next doll I made would be small. Somehow I missed these little dolls so much. Now it’s hard for me to say. I got used to this big doll. It has its charm. It seems to me that the next doll will be my original combination. Something between a big doll and a small doll. I will try to use all the techniques that I have already learned to make it. I hope to have more time and be able to take more photos while the doll is being made. I will then be able to tell you a little bit of my workshop.
