I really liked the book Anne of Green Gables. I read it as a teenage girl and it stayed in my memory forever. Of course, the film also played an important role. I was also happy when Netflix decided to make a series about Anne of Green Gables.
One of the first dolls I made, not for my daughter but for me, out of my heart, was Anne of Green Gables. The doll gained a lot of sympathy and many people wrote that they liked it very much. A few months ago I made a second doll inspired by Anne of Green Gables. Then a lady contacted me and said that she would be happy to buy Ania, but only if I sewed Diana. I thought it was a great idea. Ultimately, the lady did not order this doll, but I decided to sew Diana anyway.
Usually, when I sew a doll, I look carefully at the character it is inspired by. Diana is described in the book, but is also played by two actresses. However, I decided to sew it as I remembered it from my teenage years when I read the book. I wanted her to be simple, in a blue dress, white apron and straw hat tied with a blue ribbon. This is how I sewed it. The girl from my imagination. When I finally looked at her, she probably looked more like an actress from an old movie than from a Netflix series. However, it doesn’t matter at all, what matters is that there are two of them, friends forever.
